Senergy is an Energy Entrepreneur company, created on October 20, 2011 in Senegal. The Company's main focus is to develop state of the art solar farms with the latest technologies for delivering renewable energy at an affordable price with consistency and reliability.
After the creation of Senergy SUARL, an agreement with the minister of energy was granted 0n October 12, 2012.
Finally 64 hectares of land was obtained in Santhiou Mekhe and the deliberation was obtained on November 28, 2013.
On December 31, 2013 a Power Purchase Agreement for a duration of 25 years was signed with Senelec. In March 2015, the PPA was amended to include the sub-station at the SDE site of Mekhe.
A tax exoneration was granted by APIX on May 5, 2014.
In summary, the Santhiou Mekhe Solar farm is doing great and producing as predicted in the initial design. At the moment we are awaiting key decisions by Senelec to grant us an amendment to the PPA to install 20MW worth of Lithium-Ion batteries simply for storage to smooth out any perturbations on the GRID due to sudden demand as experienced at certain periods during the day.
The best news we have to share is that Senergy SUARL is working on a Hybrid electric Vehicle (HEV) specifically designed for the African market. It would be a 5 seater total electric vehicle with a diesel generator for extended trips. It is intended to sell for about $15,000 and focused on replacing the aging and heavily polluting engines. We are signing a protocol with a local town to purchase 5 hectares for the R&D and engineering labs to build the prototypes. Our goals once funded, is to produce a prototype in about 8 month.
Our Renewable energy activities are still going strong with several opportunities still Africa and now we are extending to Asia and the Caribbean region.
Our customer in the renewable energy field is very pleased with our performance, our delivery time and especially our reliability. At times, as we all know no one can predict the weather and there are minor equipment failures and that is to be expected.
At Senergy PV SA we are hoping that we working hard to obtain an amendment to the PPA shortly for the addition of a 20 mW of batteries for storage and resale. There are several options on the table in term of battery technologies and all are equally being considered.
As you can surmise the biggest news is the design and production of the HEV in Senegal, west Africa.Secondly we are excited in the creation of the R&D center and our continued efforts to gain bid as EPC function of future solar projects. These events are now the foremost on our minds and we are working diligently to ensure their success.
We will share with you in the future all FAQs here for your reviews and comments.
